In collaboration with more than a dozen talented artists, we have selected beautiful illustrations that will immerse you in a world of fantasy. A world of dragons.

Let's take a look at the individual illustrations and introduce their authors.

CIRUELO

As Magic: The Gathering players, we first got to admire this famous Spanish painter's illustrations back in 1998. Even today, the lucky ones can enjoy owning the iconic Serra's Sanctum card or one of more than twenty other cards featuring his illustrations.

However, you may also know Ciruelo thanks to other artworks that have appeared on gaming accessories. Two of them can once again adorn your table in the form of beautiful game mats, this time even with stitched edges!

With more than 120 illustrations, Ed left an indelible mark on the world of MTG. He is the author of five elder dragon legends (including the iconic villain Nicol Bolas) and one of the versions of a card we all love—Birds of Paradise. Two of his dragons have found their way onto our playmats, and his drawings truly exude nostalgia.

RUTH THOMPSON

For over thirty years, Ruth has been drawing dragons, knights, and fairies using pencils, ink, charcoal, oil paints, and digital programs. If you are a veteran Magic: The Gathering player who played in the 1990s, you have most likely encountered one of the cards featuring her illustrations.

From Ruth's portfolio, we have selected three dragons from her popular The Dragonblade series. You may have seen these a few years ago from Ultra Pro, but our version is of higher quality and has stitched edges. The selection is complemented by the brand new Coppervein mat.

HEATHER EDWARDS

For someone who doesn’t take herself too seriously, Heather Edwards has a knack for creating artwork that connects with the viewer at the core of the human spirit as well as breaks through boundaries set by the human mind to reach for something beyond. The result? A visual journey into the transcendent, giving those who experience it a few moments in a sublime alternate reality.

Themes in her work include religious symbolism, fantasy realism, equine and wildlife, and bold reworking of licensed characters. Her process in painting is constantly morphing as she applies new techniques, but most often consist of a multitude layers of oil paint and glazes--as many as 20 or so in some cases--to reach the desired depth and detail that dominates her work.

JASMINE BECKET-GRIFFITH

Jasmine Becket-Griffith is a traditional acrylic painter, combining elements of realism with fantasy and the surreal. Historical and spiritual references are intertwined with fairy tales and the beauty of nature. Her trademark liquid-eyed maidens evoke a wide range of emotions and responses to the surrounding imagery. The dragons themselves thus play more of a role as guides and pets here. It is her goal to bring a bit of magic and mystery to the mundane world with every painting!

SARAH RICHTER

Sarah Richter lives in Cottbus, Germany. She grew up in a small village and spent most of her time drawing, always influenced by magical and mythological beings accompanied by the dark beauty and melancholy of the night. She could spend days just drawing and creating her own worlds and she knew very early that this was her profession. She works digitally with a drawpad or traditionally with pen and paper, depending on how the respective project can best be implemented. She has always been fascinated by the beauty of the night, dark creatures, castles  and the evanescence of being and many of my artworks have a connection to it.
